An irregularly issued magazine with unique content, FOUND Magazine, hits Houston at the end of this month as part of its 10th Anniversary Tour– “My Heart Is An Idiot.” FOUND Magazine is composed of various love letters, poems, photos, diary entries, prison letters, personal notes, and more; with origins varying from Los Angeles to Louisiana, Sweden to North Korea and beyond. These original ephemera included in the magazine are submitted by their finders, who discovered them on the street, in a used couch, in a library book, or somewhere of the like. The magazine and its corresponding website (foundmagazine.com) have compiled these anonymous, but personal, pieces of people’s lives into a collection that allows us, the viewers, to be voyeurs in the lives of strangers.

FOUND Magazine creator, Davy Rothbart, and brother Peter, team up with Aurora Picture Show for an event at Saint Arnolds Brewery (2000 Lyons Ave.) on Wednesday, November 28 at 730pm. Doors open at 7pm for this Aurora Picture Show fundraiser, and the first 200 guests will receive a pint glass designed for the event by Carlos Hernandez of Burning Bones Press.

FOUND Magazine, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has published eight issues since its inaugural issue in 2001. The lost photos and missives that craft the magazine’s content are submitted by readers around the globe.

The Rothbart brothers will present a handpicked array of these mementos in coordination with readings from Davy’s new book, “My Heart Is An Idiot,” and Peter’s music that is inspired by the findings that sustain the magazine.

Houston is just one stop on the map for these brothers– they are making stops in 37 states and 75 cities, so be sure to catch ‘em during their visit to our city.
